I don’t criticize public figures for praying—or for claiming to listen to God. I pray and listen the best I can, too.
But I do wonder: if we’re all listening to God, how is it that we hear such different things?
Why do some leaders come away from prayer with messages of power, exclusion, or fear—while others hear compassion, humility, and love?
Maybe the voice we hear says more about us than it does about God.
